Tigress Catboat Commission

Painting sailboats, catboats in particular, are really enjoyable for me to do. I was asked to paint a sailboat called Tigress, that sails out of Marthas Vineyard, for a gift. I was supplied a couple of photos of the couple on the boat. I did some research to be able to place the boat where it would be recognized by the couple the day they were sailing.

The client agreed to the initial drawing and size of canvas and that it was to be done in oil

The drawing was transferred to a gallery wrapped canvas, 9x12, and we agreed that he wanted the sides to be a continuation of the scene.

Getting more details done

Rigging, People and a couple of extra buildings on the shore added for interest.

This is a sideview of the finished painting. No frame required. Client was very pleased. Recipient was pleased as well!

If you have a photo that you would like transformed into a painting for a gift or for your home, I would love to work with you.
